3 Tips to Improve More Effectively in Your Business
1. Writing for a Business Starts by Understanding Their Customer.
You have to identify what kind of relationship exists between the brand and the customer.
I like to start by defining the situation. Who am I writing to? What are their life goals? What are their pain points, their motivations, their beliefs, etc.
After I understand the customer, I can start writing.
2. Be clear, be Understood
I like to write in hemingwayapp.com so I can see what the readability level is. Just because someone is able to read at a complex level doesn’t mean they want to.
By reducing the reading level, you are doing a couple things:
Personally, when I see a long chunk of text without any breaks, I think “Nope not reading that.” Break up long paragraphs into manageable chunks so it looks easier to read.
3. Customers Exist on a Wide Spectrum
Customers either know you or they don’t, or they’re somewhere in between.
We call this warm & cold traffic. They might not have any idea who you are or they might have some idea. You can’t write with the same style to each, it wont be as effective.
Warm traffic already knows who you are. Shorter landing pages work best for these customers. You don’t need to write a lot, just be straight forward and give them exactly what they want/clicked on.
Cold traffic does not know you and most importantly, don’t trust you. Longer landing pages are required to build trust with the reader. Once you have built up trust, then you can ask them to make a sale, give their email, phone number, etc.
